NEW - Perinatal Support Groups available Update August 2010
GPGC holds funds to provide perinatal depression treatment programs for the Gold Coast and the Tweed Valley Network.
The programs - 'Beyond Baby Blues' are being convened in 3 locations, see below for details. There is no cost to the individual - the patient does need to have a mental health care plan completed.
Lakeside Rooms - Robina, courses will be convened every 2 months:
Rosalind Philp - Southport, new course to commence August 2010
Hanna Thomas - Banora Point / Tweed, new course to commence August/September 2010

This initiative is being implemented across Gold Coast and Tweed Valley by GPGC between May and June 2010. The aim of this project is to improve the prevention and early detection of antenatal and postnatal depression, and to provide better care, support and treatment for expectant and new mothers experiencing perinatal depression.
The National Perinatal Depression Initiative encourages all providers to assess women during and following their pregnancy utilising the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. The pathway above provides additional information on: - the National Perinatal Mental Health initiative
