Many consultants at Gold Coast Hospital exercise their Right to Private Practice option. A Private Practice Clinic is located at the Gold Coast Hospital, Southport Campus, where patients can be referred for assessment.

In these clinics patients will be seen by a consultant.

As with any private consultation fees may be incurred.

Patients need to be aware that in electing to be treated as a private patient there may be additional costs in terms of pathology, radiology or procedures (including surgery) that arise from being seen in the clinic.

To be seen in the clinic patients need a referral addressed to the relevant specialist.

Referring GPs should consult the SOPD Referral Directory to ensure relevant pre-requisite tests are undertaken  and accompany the referral.
