Partnerships

General Practice Gold Coast is playing a lead role in establishing partnerships to improve the health and well being of people on the Gold Coast through participation in the Gold Coast Primary Care Partnership Council (PCPC) as well as other initiatives such as the GPLO (General Practice Liaison Officer), Can Do training, headspace. 

Matt Carrodus, the CEO of GPGC, is the Chair of the Partnership Council and GPGC host the full time Coordinator position which supports the Partnership Council and the projects sponsored by the Partnership Council. The PCPC receives funding under the Connecting Healthcare in Communities (CHIC) initiative for partnering and for service delivery and innovation projects.  

The Gold Coast PCPC also works with the Gold Coast Health Service District to determine priorities for Chronic Disease funding in line with the Queensland Chronic Disease Strategy and it's own Gold Coast Chronic Disease Strategy to ensure that partnering and integration is maximised.

Partnerships have been operating in Victoria, Australia for several years. Victorian Primary Care Partnerships have been showing significant improvements in service coordination, reduced waiting times for services, reduced administration costs and improvements to health and wellbeing outcomes. 

The Queensland Partnership Council initiative is being evaluated by La Trobe University.
