Annual General Meeting 2009

Dear Member,

Thank you for your continued support of General Practice Gold Coast (GPGC) over the past year.

Please accept my invitation to the 2009 GPGC Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM represents the culmination of the past twelve months of activity by GPGC, working for and on behalf of Gold Coast General Practice. It represents an opportunity to hear and discuss achievements, opportunities and challenges, and to appreciate and recognise the contributions of many people.

This year’s AGM is particularly important given the impending health reform and the very clear implications for General Practice and GPGC. We have a very limited chance to influence major changes to the health system. This is your opportunity to influence our advocacy and be heard by national policy makers.

There will be a presentation on the health reform agenda and its implications for GPGC and we will be encouraging debate and questions.  The presentation will also explore the proposal “Primary Health Care Organisation or Perish?” Recent reform proposals have suggested the evolution of the Divisions of General Practice into ‘Primary Health Care Organisations’. We are unsure of what this may mean for GPGC, and seek your thoughts on this proposal.

The AGM will be conducted at Conrad Jupiters on 27 October 2009 with registration from 6.30pm. The following papers can be downloaded (please click on the link), or if you would prefer a hard copy mailed to you, please email Trish at :

The AGM will be a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I hope that you will be able to attend.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Michael Wright [President]
