Quality Clusters is the practice quality improvement activity offered exclusively to practices that have previously completed a development activity such as a Local Collaborative, the Australian Primary Care Collaborative or a Practice Based PDSA.
Quality Clusters are designed for practices to:
- Maintain their level performance in the topic of their choice
- Extend the CQI methodology to other disease areas
- Create sustainable system changes and improvements
- Collect, assess and report quarterly data
Practices participating in a Quality Cluster are entitled to receive the following:
- Use of the Canning Data Extraction tool
- Quarterly benchmarked data in at least two of the following topics:
- CHD
- Diabetes
- Pap Smears
- Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Patient Data & Health
- The opportunity to sign up for a Practice Based PDSA in topic not previously covered
- Quality benchmark feedback against other Gold Coast practices
- Use of the PEN Clinical Audit Tool for the purpose of practice self assessment to help identify practice goals and strategic planning
- In-house training for GPs and staff in a topic identified as an issue of need for the practice
- Participation in a group email network to share, learn and consult
- Participation in meetings and workshops with other Quality Cluster practices
- Up to 12 hours PDA assistance
- Priority access to new GPGC opportunities that require experience in quality improvement
- Payment of $500 (excl. GST) per annum
